Hohenstaufenring completely closed - access to the university campus restricted

Magdeburg Municipal Utilities (SWM) will be conducting extensive construction work to relocate the university's district heating pipeline from July 7, 2025, to December 31, 2025. Therefore, Hohenstaufenring between Gustav-Adolf-Straße and Gareisstraße will be completely closed. Access to the campus will be possible only via Gustav-Adolf-Straße during this time.

The German Research Foundation has announced which Clusters of Excellence will be funded from 2026. Unfortunately, the SmartProSys application from our university is not one of them. The civil engineering and pipeline work to implement the energy concept makes it necessary to close Falkenbergstraße south of the buildings G05 / G06 / G12 intersection to regular vehicle traffic until July 31, 2025 and the northern section from August 1 to October 31, 2025. Climate-friendly district heating for the campus
OVGU is taking an important step towards climate neutrality and sustainability. From January 1, 2026, the campus at Universitätsplatz will be supplied with climate-friendly district heating by SWM Magdeburg. A contract has now been signed for this. The university will thus save 91 percent of its previous emissions.

New rules for bicycle parking
