EU GREEN kulinarisch

Students at universities belonging to the EU GREEN alliance have compiled recipes from their home countries. Our cafeteria will be cooking these recipes until October 30, 2025. Every day, guests can look forward to a new culinary delight from Europe's kitchens.

Hohenstaufenring completely closed - access to the university campus restricted

Magdeburg Municipal Utilities (SWM) will be conducting extensive construction work to relocate the university's district heating pipeline from July 7, 2025, to December 31, 2025. Therefore, Hohenstaufenring between Gustav-Adolf-Straße and Gareisstraße will be completely closed. Access to the campus will be possible only via Gustav-Adolf-Straße during this time.

The German Research Foundation has announced which Clusters of Excellence will be funded from 2026. Unfortunately, the SmartProSys application from our university is not one of them. Raila Amolo Odinga, long-time opposition leader in Kenya and graduate of our university, has passed away at the age of 80. Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Strackeljan signed the book of condolence at the Kenyan Embassy in Berlin.

The university mourns the loss of its long-standing member Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. em. Gerhard Schwödiauer. He passed away on October 13, 2025.
As founding professor and dean of the Faculty of Economics (1993-96), he played a key role in shaping the faculty's institutional character on the one hand and its academic and methodological orientation on the other. We look back with gratitude and the utmost appreciation on his far-sighted commitment to the internationalization of teaching and research. Until his retirement in 2010, Professor Schwödiauer held the Chair of Economics, specializing in economic theory, and was a long-standing senator of the university. Read an obituary.
